Announcement
WCCMT goes to China

WCCMT joined a New Westminster City Trade Delegation to China in June 2008.  The trade delegation consisted of 14; among the delegates were Mayor Wright, Councilor Donnelly and Councilor Williams. The ten day trip involved travel to Beijing, Shanghai, Zhenjiang, Lijiang and Kunming.  This trip was the second China trip for the City of New Westminster.

Lijiang is one of New Westminster’s sister cities and so this was a return visit for some of the delegates.  Lijiang is a beautiful city located in southern China in the Yunnan province.  The city officials were interested in possible exchanges of teachers and students.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between New Westminster and Zhenjiang.  Zhenjiang s located east of Shanghai towards the coast. There was also an Establishment of Friendship Relationship ceremony.

This trip was a great opportunity for WCCMT to introduce Registered Massage Therapy to China.  Knowledge and experience with medically based massage is not common in China and our hosts were surprised and pleased to learn about the value and benefits of massage therapy for numerous health conditions.

WCCMT invited the Chinese to visit us at our New Westminster campus and to attend Spa Education Expo on April 17 & 18, 2009.  We look forward to welcoming our new friends to WCCMT in the near future.

Our new relationship with China represents a promising beginning in introducing Registered Massage Therapy and WCCMT to the rest of the world.
